We've had a lot of requests for "teen hairstyles" lately, so this week we wanted to create a pretty, half-up hairstyle with a slightly messy, tousled, relaxed look (which is so trendy and popular right now.) To make this knot design, we are using a technique from a video we posted a few years ago called "seashell knots." We decided to try placing the knots in a diagonal pattern and loved how it turned out! As shown in our tutorial (below) we stopped after making 4 knots, which created a half-up hairstyle. Of course, if you wanted to continue making more knots, you could go down further. You could possibly even incorporate all of the hair to form one large diagonal knotted braid or updo if you wanted to!

Depending on what you wear, this style could work for casual occasions (such as school or work) or for more dressed up or fancy events. I think this would be an adorable hairstyle for formal dances (Prom, Homecoming) or maybe even for weddings.
This hairstyle would be cute on straight, wavy, or curly hair. In the video, we are working with 2nd day curling wand curls.
Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
- 1 small hair elastic for each knot. I would suggest clear, or something similar to the color of hair you are working with.
- Curling wand, curling iron, rollers, etc. (If you want curls.)
- Finishing hairspray (optional.)
