This week we are featuring a pretty and unique braided hairstyle we have seen floating around on Facebook recently. All of the videos we saw were demonstrating this style on a mannequin head, so we decided to try it on "real human hair" to see how it would turn out. We both ended up loving this mermaid style and will definitely be using it again in the near future!
The overall shape of this hairstyle looks just like mermaid hair to me! I could see this being perfect for a day at the beach, or the pool. Of course, this style would also be great for school, work, or other casual occasions.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
- Several small hair elastics (the amount will depend on the length of your hair.) We used clear Goody Ouchless elastics. (Affiliate)
- Water, gel, pomade, or other product (optional.)
As mentioned in the video, we got her hair wet before we started weaving the braid, to help prevent flyaways in her naturally straight, fine hair. Depending on your hair texture, you may want to use some type of product (or water) to help the braid go in more smoothly and to keep the finished style in place longer. I think this braid would look adorable using naturally wavy or curly hair.... especially if you like carefree, slightly messy, voluminous looking braids.
